On April 7th 2016 in Quetta, Balochistan, a group of over 250 medical professionals held a protest rally in front of the Balochistan Government Assembly building during the Balochistan Assembly session. A heavily armed detachment of Police and Security Forces quickly moved in on the protesting doctors and without warning commenced a violent crackdown against the demonstrators. Pakistan Army Conducts Lethal Military Operation In Mashkay Balochistan
On June 30th 2015; the Pakistani Army Forces attacked Mehi village in Mashkay with mortar rounds and heavy machine guns. Aerial support from gunship helicopters and fighter jets was also deployed against the rural village.
At least 8 and as many as 14 people were killed during the attack. Additionally Dozens of people were injured during the attack, Including numerous women & children. May 28th 2015 marked the seventeenth anniversary of five underground nuclear tests conducted in the Chagai area of Baluchistan by the Pakistani government. The effects upon the civilian population and environment of Balochistan were drastic. Due to the secretive nature of the tests, the indigenous Baloch people in the Chagai region received no advance warning. In the years following the nuclear blasts; Baloch civilians have described severe long-term health and environmental effects that may be attributable to nuclear testing in the region.
